CURB RASH HAPPENS — WE FIX IT
A tight parking spot. A bad angle. A moment of bad luck. Curb rash on aluminum wheels is one of the most common things we see at Nautical Polishing — and it's one of the most satisfying things to fix. Wheels that customers assume are ruined come back looking better than the day they were bought.
We don't fill curb rash or polish over it. We sand and blend the damage out of the metal properly, then run the entire wheel through our full polishing process so the repaired area matches the rest of the wheel. The result is a wheel where you can't tell the damage was ever there.
Call (469) 383-4724or send us a photo of the damage and we'll tell you what we can do with it.
HOW CURB RASH REPAIR WORKS
Assessment
We inspect the wheels, assess the depth and extent of the curb damage, and identify any structural concerns. If a wheel has a crack or compromised bead seat, we'll tell you upfront — that's a safety issue, not a cosmetic one.
Sanding & Blending
We sand the damaged area to remove the gouges and scuffs, feathering the edges into the surrounding metal so there's no ridge or step. We work the damage out rather than filling over it.
Full Wheel Polishing
After repair, the entire wheel goes through our standard polishing sequence — coarse cut, progressive polish stages, and final high-speed buff. The repaired area gets the same treatment as the rest of the wheel, so the finish is consistent across the whole surface.
Final Inspection
We check every inch under direct light before the wheels leave. The repaired area should be indistinguishable from the rest of the wheel on light to moderate damage.
OUR WORK
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can all curb rash be repaired?
Most curb rash — even deep gouges on the lip — can be addressed. The exception is structural damage: if a wheel has a crack or compromised bead seat, that's a safety issue and we'll tell you upfront. Cosmetic damage can almost always be repaired.
Will I be able to tell where the damage was?
On light to moderate damage, no — it blends in completely. On very deep gouges, there may be a subtle area that's slightly thinner, but the finish will match. We'll set accurate expectations for your specific wheels before we start.
Do I need to remove my tires first?
Yes. Tires need to be off the wheels for repair and polishing. Have your tire shop pull them first.
Can you repair powder-coated wheels?
If you want a polished finish after repair, the powdercoat needs to come off first. We offer powdercoat removal and can handle the full job — strip, repair, and polish — in-house.
